Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in partnering with Youth Haven in this special way! We welcome anyone of any age and have volunteer opportunities for individuals, small groups, and large groups. Volunteering is a great way for you and your family, friends, school or church group, service group, or company employees to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of children in need!

Grounds & Facilities

With close to 400 acres and 30 buildings in Michigan and 80 acres with 12 buildings in Arizona, maintaining the facilities is quite a large task. Dedicated volunteers help make it possible for us to keep our facilities and grounds in top condition for the children who use them. Ongoing volunteer needs include:

  • Raking leaves
  • Mowing
  • Washing windows
  • General cleaning in our buildings
  • Trash pick-up
  • Planting flowers in the spring

Skilled Labor

Some of our projects present a definite need for volunteers with special skills. This might include:

  • Painting
  • Caring for the animals at our Petting Barn
  • Repairing bicycles
  • Electrical work
  • Plumbing
  • Construction

Special Events

We also hold several annual special events throughout the year, when we open the Ranch grounds to our community. We plan special activities for them to enjoy and invite them to come learn more about our outreach to disadvantaged children. The extra hands of volunteers help make these days go smoothly. Annual events include:

  • Arizona Candlelight Dinners - March 3, 4, & 5, 2017 (tentative)
  • Michigan Ladies' Days - April 27, 28, & 29, 2017
  • Michigan Pancake Breakfast - July 4th, 2017
  • Michigan Candlelight Dinners - September 29 & 30 and October 1, 2017 (tentative)

Other Volunteer Opportunities

  • Sorting & organizing donated clothing & toys
  • Helping stuff mailings to supporters or children
  • Occasionally, there may be opportunities to volunteer in our children's program, such as serving meals during the Christmas season.
