Hannah's Story

Finding Love and Hope at Youth Haven

It was a relative who first requested help for Hannah*, hoping Youth Haven could provide some fun and encouragement in the midst of her difficult circumstances. She was living with them temporarily, having been removed from her mother’s home due to domestic violence and substance abuse. And it wasn’t the first time. In fact, she had been in and out of foster care her entire life.

When Hannah arrived at our campus, she was struggling with the emotional trauma of abuse, instability, and separation. As one abuse survivor explained to us, “You just think that’s the way life is, because it’s all you’ve ever known.” That was how Hannah felt. She desperately needed hope!

Hannah’s week at Youth Haven was filled with laughter, fun, new friends, and adults who treated her with the love and concern she deserved. She discovered there is so much more to life than the abuse and hurt of her past. She learned that Jesus loves her enough to give His life for her. And she received her very own Bible, so she can be reminded of that life-changing truth wherever she goes.

Since that first time with us, Hannah has been coming to Youth Haven regularly. Her last visit with us was scheduled through a social worker at a group home, who confirmed that Hannah has been placed in their care. We don’t know the circumstances surrounding her transition to the group home, but we’re grateful her social worker sees the benefit of our programs and desires to keep her involved!

Despite the fact that Hannah continues to experience instability at home, Youth Haven provides a stable, safe place where she knows she is loved and accepted. Where she’s able to experience the fun and friendships every child deserves. Where she is reassured of God’s love for her and how valuable she is to Him.

You are the reason this is possible! Every gift you give, every prayer you lift, and every minute you spend volunteering helps provide this important haven for kids like Hannah. Thank you for partnering with us to make a difference in their lives. Thank you for giving them love and hope!
