FINANCIAL MANAGER

Location: Rives Junction, Michigan
Hours: Part Time (24-32 hours a week)

Position Description:

 

This position is responsible for the financial management of Youth Haven's non-profit business operations. Reporting directly to the President, responsibilities will include general ledger accounting, processing of payroll, bank account reconciliation, processing of accounts payable and receivable, development of Youth Haven's annual budget, and management of all state and federal finance-related filings in coordination with Youth Haven’s CPA firm. In addition, the Financial Manager will assist in many HR oversight responsibilities, including staff onboarding and benefit management.

  • Have a sincere and deep commitment to Youth Haven's mission and values

  • 2 or 4 year degree from an accredited institution in the area of accounting, finance or other business related field

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment, with an in-depth understanding of non-profit accounting practices

  • Highly proficient and experienced with Microsoft Excel & Word

  • Highly proficient and experienced with Quickbooks or similar accounting software

  • Highly detailed and organized with attention to details and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to manage confidential information

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Flexibility is important in any position at Youth Haven. While a typical weekly schedule will be followed, work above and beyond a 40 hour work week may be required at times to fulfill the responsibilities and duties of the position, including occasional weekend work.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy in expense account classification for both the Michigan and Arizona campus locations

  • Assist with daily mail pickup and processing

  • In coordination with Youth Haven’s Constituent Services Manager, enter deposits from contribution income as well as other sources of revenue for Youth Haven, ensuring accuracy and correct income account classification

  • Reconcile all monthly bank and financial account statements

  • Process all journal entries as needed in accordance with general accounting principles

  • Process Youth Haven's payroll, including collection and management of employee tax records, time sheets, W2s and other payroll related items

  • Administer all employee benefits programs under the direction of the President, including group insurance offerings, 401(k) program and HSA contributions

  • In coordination with organizational and departmental leadership, oversee the development of Youth Haven's annual budget, including projecting and forecasting both expenses and revenues. In addition, manage regular organizational and departmental expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget

  • Develop and prepare weekly, monthly, annual, and ad-hoc financial statements and reports based upon the needs of Youth Haven's Board of Directors, President and external auditors

  • Manage fixed asset accounts and depreciation schedules in coordination with Youth Haven’s CPA firm

  • Assist with Youth Haven's annual audit by providing financial information to Youth Haven's external auditors and assisting with the annual filing of the 990 and charitable solicitation licenses

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President or Director of Operations, including assisting with several of Youth Haven's annual events and activities
