What Is Youth Haven?

Disadvantaged ChildDrugs. Alcohol. Violence. Abuse. Poverty. Neglect. These are realities some children face every day.

But there is hope, and boys and girls by the thousands are finding it at Youth Haven.

Youth Haven is a non-denominational Christian outreach, dedicated to meeting the many needs of today’s disadvantaged children. Through year-round on-site programming, Kids' Klub after school activities, a Caring Clowns outreach, and extensive follow-up, this unique organization reaches out to thousands of less fortunate boys and girls each year with the message of God's love and hope!

A 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Youth Haven was founded in 1968 by Morry and Dorothy Carlson, along with their son Larry and his wife Cheri. Larry and Cheri’s son Lars and his wife Amy serve as the third generation of Ranch leadership and continue to carry out the founding vision of his grandparents and parents. There are currently two Ranch campuses, located in Rives Junction, Michigan, and Picacho, Arizona.

Youth Haven ChildrenThe children who come to Youth Haven face various negative influences and circumstances in their lives. The boys and girls are referred to the Ranch by welfare agencies, school counselors, social service agencies, churches, or concerned family members. Sadly, many of the children who attend Youth Haven’s programs believe they have no real hope for the future. As our dedicated staff spend time with them and mentor them, the children discover that they are, indeed, loved and valued.

All children attend the Youth Haven programs free of charge, and the Ranches receive no state or federal support. Your love gifts to this outreach help provide less fortunate youth with food, shelter, clothing, fun activities, positive role models, and more.
